This year, the Section on Statistics and Marketing of the American Statistical Association will award up to three grants to PhD students who wish to attend the 2009 Joint Statistical Meeting in Washington, DC. Each grant recipient will receive free registration for the conference as well as up to $600 in travel subsidy. Recipients will not be required to present their work at the conference. Any doctoral student conducting research related to Statistics and Marketing is eligible for the grant, irrespective of his or her primary field of research or affiliation.
Applicants should submit the following documents to Olivier Toubia (ot2107@columbia.edu) before May 15, 2009:
- The applicant’s CV
- A short letter (one or two pages) written by the applicant explaining his or her motivation for attending the conference
- A letter of recommendation from the student’s Faculty advisor.
The recipients of the grant will be notified by June 1, 2009.
