New Perspectives On Customer Behaviour In Poland

GUEST EDITORS: Krzysztof Kubacki, Keele University, Dariusz Siemieniako, Bialystok Technical University and Jim Blythe, University of Plymouth.

It has been two decades since the collapse of the Iron Curtain and five years from the enlargement of the European Union which saw Poland becoming a member of the European Community. Despite the initial increased interest in research investigating marketing issues in Central Europe after both events, very little research has been published by Polish researchers. Strong unification processes on economic and cultural levels have so far not been followed by a critical discussion between consumer researchers from ‘old’ and ‘new’ Europe. The focus of this special issue has been chosen to encourage new and critical views of customer behaviour from Polish researchers, who have been underrepresented so far in marketing journals. The guest editors welcome submissions offering innovative insights into issues surrounding customer behaviour in Poland and advancing our understanding of Polish customers’ behaviour in the context of constantly evolving social, economic and cultural environments. Therefore, we encourage submissions on far ranging explorations of any aspects of customer behaviour in Poland. Although there are no further specific boundaries, potential authors are encouraged to contact the guest editors with their proposals. Although both conceptual and empirical types of paper are sought, the guest editors would like particularly to encourage submission of rigorous empirical studies using a wide range of methodologies.

One of the main goals of this special issue is to facilitate the discussion between researchers investigating under-researched area of customer behaviour in Poland, and to give a fresh impetus to the cooperation among marketing researchers in Poland and abroad, in order to support better networking. However, in order to promote discussion and enable Polish academics to express their views, only papers first-authored by Polish academics will be accepted. First-authors may wish to acknowledge their collaborators and mentors as named co-authors in traditional way. Collaborations between Polish and researchers from other countries are particularly welcome.

In order to achieve papers of an acceptable standard for the JCB, two rounds of reviewing will take place. After the initial selection of best abstracts, reviewers will be encouraged to provide authors with supportive and constructive feedback enabling them to develop their work to the highest possible standard.
