Rationale
The Advances in Culture, Tourism, and Hospitality Research (ACTHR) book series broadly seeks to increase understanding and description of human behavior, conscious and unconscious meaning, and implicit/explicit decision processes applied to living. Living encompasses making major and everyday choices about where to live, work, and play; how culture affects thinking and actions; marriage, children; work choices and behavior; leisure pursuits; holiday destination; travel behavior; making tradeoffs among work, play, sleeping, and necessity behaviors; deciding, using, and evaluating short and long term accommodations; decisions and behaviors regarding assisted living and death. The ACTHR series strives to promote synergies among culture, work, leisure, tourism, and hospitality scholars via applied research on the lived experiences of individuals and households and their cultural and personal antecedents and consequences.
Volume 4 will examine research methods applicable for investigating cultural, tourism, and hospitality phenomena that lead to studies advancing both theory and empirical evidence–empirical reports including interpretive, positivistic, or mixed research designs. Volume 4 will provide insights and instruction for both beginning and established researchers, and practitioners in the inter-related fields of culture, tourism and hospitality in view of extending the realm of applied human/consumer behavioral research. It will provide a resource for the latest thinking on all aspects of research and demonstrate the application and implication of innovative and rigorous research on the breadth, depth, provocation and passion in reporting the nuances of humans’ lived experiences relating to culture, tourism and hospitality in view of extending academic knowledge but, more importantly, providing the tourist, guest, diner, visitor, passenger… whoever the recipient of the tourism and hospitality product may be with superior experience and enhanced value.
Chapter Details
The editors are seeking a broad representation of quantitative, qualitative and mixed-method research methods as the subject of case studies. Empirical positivistic and/or case study chapters of between 5000 and 7000 words are invited, on the following topic areas or other topics:

- Cross-disciplinary research
- Field research designs
- Commercial research
- Research ethics
- Technological advances in research
Submission Procedure
Submissions should be 4,000 to 20,000 words, double-spaced in WORD. Each figure and table should appear on separate pages after the reference pages.
