5th Annual Mason Entrepreneurship Research Conference (MERC 2009):

Theme: Sustainability and Entrepreneurship

Friday, March 27, 2009

Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM followed by a Reception

Location: George Mason University Fairfax Campus

4400 University Dr., Fairfax, VA 22030 (Mason Hall)

For several years, George Mason University has been organizing an annual research conference to promote dialogue and collaborative research among scholars interested in the topic of Entrepreneurship spanning across many disciplines.

Our conference is open to all researchers in the field of entrepreneurship. We firmly believe that research in Entrepreneurship is not the domain of any one academic discipline. Hence researchers from all academic disciplines are invited to participate in the fifth annual event. You are invited to submit an abstract of your research that can conceivably be connected with any dimension of Entrepreneurship such as regional development and role of government, risk taking, engineering and innovation, autonomy and leadership. Examples include, but are not limited, to: creativity and innovation, new product or process development, examining the opportunities to change an industry, a community or our society through entrepreneurial activities, and the role of information technology in Entrepreneurship.

The goals of the this annual conference are two-fold: 1. To create and build a community of researchers committed to furthering entrepreneurial studies and 2. To encourage researchers from cross-disciplinary fields to initiate collaborative research projects that explore new trends, opportunities, and challenges in Entrepreneurship and related fields of study. The specific Theme for this conference is “Sustainability and Entrepreneurship”. Abstracts focusing on sustainability and its link to entrepreneurship will be highlighted throughout the conference.

The conference planning committee is seeking a wide-range of conference presentations representing an eclectic mix of research from diverse levels of research analysis, multiple research approaches and multiple disciplines (e.g. business management, economics, engineering, finance, fine arts, health services, history of Entrepreneurship, organization theory, performing arts, political science, psychology, public policy, and sociology to name a few).
