Title:

“The Economy and Academics: How the Current Economic Situation Affects Faculty and Doctoral Candidates”

Time:

Saturday, February 21st: 8:30-10am

Abstract:

A structured, but informal discussion on specific impacts of the current economic situation on current and future employment conditions for existing and prospective faculty. Recommendations and expectations for the current job market, and predictions about potential impacts for existing faculty and PhD candidates will be discussed. Panelists representing public and private, small and large research schools will share their observations from their own schools and states, followed by a question and answer session with participants. Faculty and doctoral candidates are both encouraged to attend to try to help develop a more clear understanding of the industry-wide financial impact of the current economic crisis.
