Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a selective university with some 23,000+ full time undergrads/grad students and 3000 College of Business students, is recruiting for two positions in the Dept of Marketing for Fall of 2009 per attached official job description. There is a possibility, depending on candidates, that one of these two positions could be filled with a Marketing/Logistics person that would have a Logistics focus and teach some Marketing and some Logistics. The Department currently has an Emphasis in Logistics within the Marketing Major with 70 students that is three years old and growing. Current regularly scheduled courses include Logistics, Transportation, International Logistics, and Retailing. The College also has a separate Management Major with an Operations Emphasis with 6 courses. The College is in the process of seeking expected 2008 approval for a new SCM Major that will combine these programs. Grand Rapids and western Michigan are home to a large number of employers with major logistics operations, interest in relationships with faculty, and a need for logistics students. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: TWO ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS OF MARKETING – FALL 2009
Qualifications: Applicants are required to have earned a Ph.D. or DBA in Marketing from an AACSB accredited institution (by August 2009), and be interested in teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Candidates must have experience or strong interest in teaching principles of marketing and one or more of the following: research, international, creativity, ethics, retailing, or logistics. Candidates must have a record of excellence in teaching, and a strong personal research stream for publication output or potential for research productivity. As one of the "most wired" campuses in the U.S, preference will be given to those who demonstrate experience using emerging technologies, have significant business experience, a willingness to integrate contemporary business practices and regional businesses in curriculum offerings, and enhance the department’s chosen areas of excellence. The atmosphere at the Seidman College of Business is highly collegial, with many opportunities for professional growth. Grand Rapids, the second-largest city in Michigan, offers many cultural and leisure activities. The University and Seidman offer an excellent benefits package.
