Colleagues;

Since learning of Christopher Lovelock’s untimely death (he passed away on February 24, 2008), SERVSIG has been working on how best to honor Christopher’s life. As a founding father of the services marketing field, Christopher is recognized around the world as a leading authority on service management. Christopher also took an active interest in SERVSIG. He participated in the formation of SERVSIG, was the second recipient of the SERVSIG Career Contributions Award, received the 2005 SERVSIG Best Article of the Year award, and, at the time of his death, served as the SERVSIG Communications Officer. Christopher also had, and continues to have, an impact on many of our lives, both professionally and personally; he will be greatly missed!

Tributes to honor Christopher Lovelock are being planned this year at the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø SERVSIG Services Research Conference in Liverpool, UK and the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Frontiers in Service Conference in Maryland, USA.

For those of you who knew Christopher, please send any photos of Christopher or stories about Christopher to Jochen Wirtz <jochen@NUS.EDU.SG> and Ray Fisk <Ray.Fisk@txstate.edu>. Jochen and Ray will use this material to create fitting tributes to Christopher at the conferences. These materials will be shared with Christopher’s family, too. Help us to celebrate Christopher’s life by helping Ray and Jochen develop a fitting tribute.
