Call for Papers (Deadline 30 September 2008)
The INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CULTURE, TOURISM, & HOSPITALITY RESEARCH (IJCTHR) announces a call for papers with the intention of publishing a special issue advancing Multi -Culturalism and Aerospace/Tourism Industries Research.
Recent increases in aircraft size and passenger miles travelled together with new developments in such areas as space tourism create opportunities for interdisciplinary research addressing a range of topics that include the impact of aircraft design on traveler behaviors associated with air rage or alcohol consumption, tourist perceptions of carbon emissions by airlines, implications of culture for airline security operations, and marketing of tourism through national airlines. Accordingly, the IJCTHR is calling for papers for a special edition addressing research in the following suggested areas:
- Tourism, aviation and global climate change
- Traveler responses to anticipated and actual global pandemics
- Airline and airport security practices in the context of different cultures
- Space tourism
- Tourist behavior patterns on aircraft or associated with aviation
- Large aircraft design and airline hospitality
- Hospitality management by airlines and airports
- Multiculturalism and the management of service and hospitality by airlines
- New technologies and passenger service management in airports
- Retail shopping behavior by tourists at airports
- Branding and traveler perceptions of such airline practices as code sharing.
Authors are encouraged to submit papers on these and other topics related to culture, tourism, and hospitality in the aerospace sectors. Eligible papers should consider the positioning and audience of IJCTHR. Manuscripts for this special issue should be submitted no later than 30 September 2008. Each paper will be reviewed by the co-editors and, if judged suitable for the journal, the paper will be sent to two referees for double blind peer review. Based on their recommendations, the co-editors will decide whether the paper should be accepted as is, revised or rejected. The editor may make use of iThenticate software for checking the originality of submissions received. (Submissions should follow the formatting guidelines of the Journal as shown at ).
