Marketing Lecture Slide Contest
Lecture slides are an indispensable tool in business school classrooms and beyond, used in almost every lecture by virtually all marketing instructors at every level. Despite the key role played by slide presentation software in marketing education, many of us do not spend much time improving our "slide technique". In addition, each of us, working alone in our offices, frequently duplicates the work of others. How many marketing faculty have created a slide on the product life cycle, the BCG matrix, Rogers’ adoption/innovation curve, elasticity, SWOT analysis, a typical distribution channel, reach versus frequency, and so forth?
Given this, the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Teaching and Learning SIG is sponsoring the 2008 Marketing Lecture Slide Contest. The goals of the contest are to
- improve the lecture slide skill set of the worldwide marketing field,
- generate higher student interest in marketing through improved faculty presentations,
- reward the best pedagogical work in our field,
- initiate a culture of slide sharing and
- have some fun.
The Marketing Instructors’ Choice Awards
The ELMAR community will be invited to vote on its favorite slides after the submission deadline. Voting categories will include:
- Most Effective Presentation of a Marketing Concept
- Most Artistic Slide
- Most Humorous Slide
The Teaching and Learning SIG Master Slide Awards
Winners will be chosen by the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Teaching and Learning SIG committee based on the effective communication of a marketing concept or concepts. Depending on submissions, there may be separate categories for individual slides and for short (2-8 slides) sequences.
It is planned that all winning slides for all categories will be presented in a Teaching and Learning SIG session at the 2008 ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Summer Educators’ Conference in San Diego.
