1. Chair, Department of Management and Marketing — Winston-Salem State University — North Carolina

Winston-Salem State University, a premier comprehensive university, is one of the 16 constituent institutions comprising the University of North Carolina. WSSU is a premier regional institution that is ranked as the #1 public baccalaureate university in the South by US News and World Report. The university enrolls approximately 5,700 students in 45 undergraduate programs and 12 graduate programs. Designated a focused-growth institution, Winston-Salem State University has doubled its enrollment since Fall 2000 and is targeted to grow to more than 8,000 students by 2015, with a concomitant growth in programs, specifically at the master’s level.

Winston-Salem State University is located in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina with Greensboro to the east and High Point to the south, offering an exceptional climate as well as easy access to mountains and beaches. Winston-Salem, a city of approximately 220,000, was recently ranked as one of the top 50 cities worldwide in quality of life by Mercer Human Resources Consulting.

Winston-Salem State University’s School of Business & Economics features three academic departments and six major programs. The Department of Management & Marketing serves approximately 500 students and houses the areas of management, marketing, quantitative business analysis and business communications. WSSU is one of sixteen constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina and features a diverse, predominately African-American student population of over 5,500. It is located in the beautiful Piedmont region of North Carolina and offers an exceptional climate as well as easy access to mountains and beaches.

POSITION: A full-time, tenure-track position as Chair, Department of Management & Marketing is available in August 2008.

RANK: Associate or Full Professor depending on qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Chair and administer the new Department of Management & Marketing, which oversees the majors of Management and Marketing and the support fields of Business Communications and Quantitative Business Analysis. Teach four courses per year. Maintain high involvement with the accreditation process.

QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in Management or Marketing from an AACSB-accredited program required. Successful college-level teaching experience and a successful recent track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals required. The person hired will present evidence of excellent oral and written English communication skills. Previous academic administrative or substantial program planning experience required. AACSB accreditation process experience and budget experience preferred.

SALARY: AACSB competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, adjusted to a twelve-month basis.

2. Assistant Professor, Marketing — Winston-Salem State University — North Carolina

WSSU’s School of Business and Economics invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor of marketing in the Department of Management and Marketing, beginning July 1, 2008. The salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching assignments encompass both undergraduate and graduate programs. The responsibilities include teaching a variety of marketing courses, advising students, conducting and publishing research, and participating in department, school, and university activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Ph.D. or DBA in marketing from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered, but the degree needs to be earned by July 1, 2008; Evidence of excellent oral and written English communication skills; Evidence of ability and interest in teaching Marketing Principles, Marketing Management or Marketing Strategy, Salesmanship, Marketing Communications, and International Business courses; Evidence of successful research /ability to publish along with a clearly defined research agenda.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Willingness to develop courses in Brand Management, Customer Relationship Management, Internet Marketing or Direct Marketing; Evidence of graduate level teaching; Evidence of online teaching experience; Evidence of successful interaction with business community; Evidence of externally funded research grant award.
