The G.R. Herberger College of Business at St. Cloud State University (SCSU) seeks applications for a professionally qualified faculty member in marketing. SCSU is a comprehensive state university with over 16,000 students. SCSU is located in St. Cloud, Minnesota, a growing community, approximately 60 miles northwest of Minneapolis, Minnesota. St. Cloud State University’s students share a 137-year heritage of excellence and opportunity at the University’s campus on the Mississippi River. The G. R. Herberger College of Business offers ten undergraduate majors and a Master of Business Administration degree. The Business College has a strong reputation as one of only four colleges of business in Minnesota which is AACSB accredited. The college prides itself on its high-quality teaching and aims to prepare students for successful careers in business, non-profit organizations, or government and to encourage responsible participation and leadership in society. The College awards approximately 600 undergraduate and 40 graduate degrees each year. The College of Business is home to a full-time faculty of 70 and a student body of some 3,400 undergraduate and M.B.A. students. The successful candidate will join a collegial faculty of 16 in the Marketing and Business Law department.
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate marketing courses. Contribute to achievement of all departmental goals which include: (1) providing a high quality learning environment, (2) maintaining AACSB International accreditation, (3) research and other scholarly achievement and intellectual contributions, (4) curriculum and program development and enhancement, (5) serving students, the department, the college, the university and various publics. Candidates will be expected to maintain professionally qualified status as defined below.
Tenure and promotion decisions are based on demonstrated ability to teach effectively, scholarly/creative achievement or research, continued preparation and study, contribution to student growth and development, and service to the university and community.
Qualifications for professionally qualified (PQ) position:
Required:
- Master’s degree in business administration or marketing from a nationally or regionally accredited school of business with substantial degree course work completed in campus-based classrooms.
- Recent and significant executive level marketing experience related to the courses to be assigned (minimum of ten years of such experience with increasing levels of responsibility). Executive level marketing experience should be at a firm with minimum revenues of $10 million and/or a firm with a minimum of 25 employees.
- Demonstrated interest and willingness to do scholarship.
- Significant and relevant expertise in marketing areas such as: marketing communications, retailing, professional selling, marketing management, product development, channels/logistics, or international marketing.
- Willingness to teach and work effectively with students, departmental colleagues and others in the university and business community as demonstrated by past collaborative projects.
- Willingness to contribute to student growth and development. The successful candidate will have demonstrated willingness to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated teaching proficiency at a college or university.
