The Sport Marketing Association is going down under! The 6th annual conference will be held on Australia’s Gold Coast, July 16-20, 2008. The conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Business from the University of Southern Queensland
The conference will be held at the Marriott Surfers Paradise Resort & Spa. The academic schedule includes presentations, industry speakers, a doctoral student consortium, and a sport industry forum. The entertainment schedule includes an international golf challenge on Wednesday, dinner and show at the RM Williams Outback Spectacular on Thursday, and a special Saturday evening gala.
Submissions for possible inclusion in the conference are now being accepted.
Materials may be submitted for any of the following categories:
- Oral presentation [30 minutes, including questions]
- Symposium or roundtable [90 minutes]
- Poster presentation
- Graduate Student Consortium [30 minute presentations, including questions]
The graduate student consortium is an opportunity for graduate students at all stages of the research process to present their ideas, get feedback from professors and fellow students, and to discuss a variety of sport marketing topics. The consortium is also a competition from which one paper will be selected as the outstanding student research paper.
- Book of papers
In conjunction with the 2008 conference, the association will sponsor publication of a special book of papers highlighting sport marketing research taking place around the world. Completed manuscripts are invited for peer review and potential inclusion in the special edition.
Authors submitting for possible inclusion in the book of papers should send a completed manuscript, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Australasian Marketing Journal or the American Psychological Association Guidelines (5th edition). Manuscripts must be submitted in a Microsoft Word file or as a Rich Text File. Manuscripts should not exceed 30 pages (inclusive). A single file is to be posted with the format, lastname-firstnameBOP.doc. Papers will be evaluated through a blind peer review protocol. Manuscripts should not be submitted to another publication while under review. Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication will be required to transfer copyright authority to Fitness Information Technology.
Authors with submissions accepted for inclusion in the book of papers will also be accorded an oral presentation slot. A presentation based on a submitted manuscript will count as one of the two possible presentations that may be accepted.
