Special Issue on Internet Marketing for Nonprofit Organizations Journal of Nonprofit & Public Sector Marketing

Deadline: 1 May 2008

Nonprofit organizations (which include political, charitable, membership and nongovernmental organizations) are under increasing pressure to more effectively use their websites and other Internet technologies for marketing purposes. It is timely, therefore, to dedicate a special issue to encourage exploration on nonprofit Internet marketing. Possible topics include but are not limited to:

  • using social networking to build support and develop relationships
  • using SMS for community building of supporters
  • more effective website use for fundraising, volunteer recruitment and retention, planned giving, and advocacy
  • using viral marketing for advocacy and social movements
  • website use to improve social marketing effectiveness
  • the role of email marketing and e-newsletters in direct marketing

Of course there are many other topics related to online nonprofit marketing which could also be included. We are accepting empirical, conceptual, and literature review articles. We are not accepting case studies. We are accepting book reviews related to the theme of this special issue. Book reviews are expected to be between 400 and 500 words.

Authors can submit articles electronically. Instructions for authors are available online from the journal’s website at

Please send submissions to the journal’s editor, Walter Wymer, at walter.wymer@uleth.ca
