PRODLINE: Artificial Intelligence Software for Product Line Designs
Welcome to the release of PRODLINE, software for Product Line Designs, developed by Balakrishnan, Gupta and Jacob (available for Pedagogical purposes only). A Short Case (by Balakrishnan and Roos) on designing a set of Televisions in a retail setting along with associated conjoint data is now also available to help understand the power of the software.
The Program file, Software Manual, Case and Data sets can be downloaded as individual files (or you can download two ZIP files). These materials are now made available for instructional use. You can get these by either sending me an email and I will email you back an username, and password as well as the web link for download access to the materials (firewalls prevent me from emailing you the files). A faster and easier alternative to get access is by clicking on the link below. A brief set of questions will generate the username, password and provide you the permission to download the Software (the manual, as well a sample case and data set).
This student version software can be employed in conjunction with conjoint part-worths data to discuss relevant issues in the design of product lines in a competitive environment. This is a fairly general purpose software implementation that can help demonstrate the Dynamic Programming (DP) heuristic, as well as the Artificial Intelligence based methodology of Genetic Algorithms (GA). This could be of use to those of you teaching New Product Management, Marketing Engineering, or a Seminar on Marketing Models.
