ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
5th International Political Marketing Conference
Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester, UK
27th – 29th March 2008
"Political Marketing: Theories Meet Practice, Marketing Meets Political Science"
Manchester Business School announces that the 5th International Political Marketing Conference and Doctoral Colloquium will take place in Manchester between the 26th – 29th March 2008. The Conference will incorporate the annual meeting of the Academy of Marketing Special Interest Group in Political Marketing. The conference will be preceded by the 2nd International PhD Colloquium on Political Marketing (26th March 2008).
The topic for the 2008 conference integrates two complementary aspects which define political marketing. Firstly, we will look at the interplay of concepts and theories of political marketing on the one hand, and political marketing practice on the other hand. Secondly, further integration and interaction between marketing scholars and political scientists is encouraged.
The conference will include a keynote speech by Professor Bruce Newman (DePaul University, Chicago).
Academic papers for the conference will be peer-reviewed (deadline for submission: 15th February 2008). The best papers from the conference will be invited for submission to the Journal of Political Marketing and the Journal of Public Affairs. Papers should be about 20 pages long (please use the style guide of the Journal of Political Marketing) and submitted electronically to the conference organiser Dr. Stephan Henneberg (stephan.henneberg@mbs.ac.uk).
The Conference tracks will include the following topics (however, submissions can also be in other areas of research in political marketing):
- Political marketing from a political scientist’s point of view
- International case studies in political marketing management
- Ethics and political marketing
- Political marketing and Public Affairs, Lobbying and Corporate Social Responsibility
If you would like to suggest and chair a special track, please contact the conference organiser (stephan.henneberg@mbs.ac.uk).
The Doctoral Colloquium
Doctoral papers for the colloquium will be reviewed by the colloquium organizer and selected panel reviewers (deadline for submission: 15th February 2008). Papers for the doctoral colloquium should be no more than 5 pages long (please use the style guide of the Journal of Political Marketing) and be submitted electronically to the doctoral colloquium organiser Dr. Paul Baines (paul.baines@cranfield.ac.uk). Your papers should outline your PhD work so far. It doesn’t matter if this is still in literature review phase, in the middle of fieldwork, or at the end. The intention is to provide you with feedback on your work so far.
Sir Robert Worcester (founder, MORI) will give a speech at the PhD doctoral colloquium dinner.
