Special session on:

Managerial Integration of Scientific, Engineering, and
Business Practices in Central and Eastern Europe

September 10 and 11, 2008

The Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences will hold its 24th World Congress in Ruzomberok, Slovakia from September 8 to 14, 2008. The Congress will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences and will be cosponsored by the Catholic University and the City of Ruzomberok.

The special session will underscore recent developments in managerial integration of scientific, engineering, and business practices in contemporary corporations, institutions, and organizations with particular emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe. Issues concerning integration of managerial practices will be examine in the framework of entrepreneurship, innovation, and commercialization with a focus on the formation of smaller enterprises, spin-offs from scientific and academic research, and strategic marketing. Scientists, academics, and practitioners are encouraged to submit papers for presentations. Submitted papers will be refereed and authors will be notified regarding the final acceptance of their submissions. Research papers, case studies, concepts and policy papers are welcome.

The session will be held in English; contributors from all countries interested managerial integration of scientific, engineering, and business practices are invited to participate. A special invitation is extended to potential contributors from the Czech and Slovak Republics and international doctoral students interested in managerial issues concerning the Czech and Slovak Republics.

Papers should not be more than fifteen pages in length, written in English, and should be prepared according to the University of Chicago style manual (K.L. Turabian, A Manual for Writers. Chicago: The University of Chicago Press, 1987). Papers are due February 29, 2008. Authors will be notified by March 14, 2008 regarding their acceptance. Final papers will be due May 16, 2008. All submissions must be made by electronic mail using a standard Microsoft Word program. Please send your papers to: george.tesar@usbe.umu.se .
