The International Journal of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality Research announces a Special Issue on "Avoiding cultural misconceptions during globalization of tourism."

Deadline: 29 October 2007

Theoretical, qualitative and quantitative manuscripts will be considered for this multiple peer-refereed special issue. Topics of particular interest include the following areas:

Examples of topics and/or industries may include retail operations, consumer reactions to changes in a business, the tourism industry, influences on the tourism industry, changes required or considered by hoteliers, changes made by advertising companies hired by retailers, dual signage throughout airports – hotels – restaurants – tourist destinations.

  • Methods for avoiding miscommunication of cultural meanings
  • Strategies for catering products and services to multiple cultures while maintaining the organization’s primary mission
  • Marketing strategies for communicating one message to multiple international audiences
  • Initiating a new culture into an existing business
  • Philosophical differences among globalizing an existing business
  • Practical procedures during the globalization of an existing business
