The Marketing Faculty of the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University is conducting a national search for two outstanding colleagues to join the department. The Hankamer School of Business, ranked #38 by Business Week, continues its efforts to achieve the University’s "Vision 2012" goals to assume a leadership position in higher education while maintaining a strong Christian mission. The marketing department has been successful in attracting outstanding new faculty, due in part to an endowed research center and nationally-recognized specialty programs in Sports Sponsorship & Sales, Professional Selling, and a newly developed program in Music & Entertainment Marketing.
Providing excellent service and teaching to Baylor’s exceptional students, faculty produce substantive scholarly output-including frequent, current publications from multiple faculty in leading outlets such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Advertising and leading field journals as fitting with the faculty’s research stream (e.g., Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, etc.). The school and the department actively encourage a global perspective, providing faculty with opportunities to teach in France and lead cross-cultural educational trips abroad. Description of Positions
1. Faculty. The department seeks one tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level. Candidates should have obtained an appropriate terminal degree from an AACSB-accredited institution by the time of appointment. Excellence in teaching and service is expected. Successful candidates will demonstrate clear evidence of an ability to produce highly regarded scholarly output. Areas of expertise are open, with some preference given to those with interests in consumer research, marketing research/modeling, or strategy.
2. Chair. The Chair of the Marketing Department is expected to demonstrate a servant leadership style, which implies a calling, willingness to listen, empathy, stewardship, and commitment to community, while at the same time exhibiting the persuasion, conceptualization, foresight and determination to grow the department and achieve unit goals. Viable candidates with appropriate terminal degrees from AACSB-accredited institutions should model excellence in research, teaching, and service. Prior administrative experience is advantageous, but not necessary. Candidates with outstanding research records may be considered for an open endowed chair position within the marketing department.
