ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MARKETING
DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND MARKETING
Position Description: A full-time, tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level is available in Marketing. In addition to Marketing Principles classes at the undergraduate and MBA level, teaching responsibilities will include Marketing Strategy. Other responsibilities may include one or more of the following areas: Marketing Strategy at the MBA level, Advertising and Promotion, International Marketing, Consumer Behavior and/or Retail Marketing. The starting date is September 2008. Additional expectations include scholarship and professional service. Salary is competitive.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. (preferred) or ABD with expectation of completion by Fall 2008 in Marketing is required. Ph.D. qualified candidates are eligible for the Assistant Professor rank, while an ABD candidate would be hired at the Lecturer rank. Candidates should demonstrate excellent teaching ability (or promise of excellent teaching), excellent communication skills, and a scholarship record commensurate with the number of years since completion of the Ph.D. Marketing experience is desirable but not required.
University: Western Washington University, with nearly 13,000 students and eight colleges, is nationally recognized for its educational programs, students, and faculty. The 224-acre campus, located in Bellingham, Washington, overlooks Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands. The city lies 90 miles north of Seattle and 55 miles south of Vancouver, B.C. With its year-round mild climate, recreational opportunities abound from the water to the nearby ski slopes of 10,778 foot Mount Baker and the alpine country of the Cascades.
College: The College of Business and Economics is considered a leadership unit within the university. The College is AACSB accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has more than 60 full-time faculty. The College grants the MBA along with Bachelors of Arts degrees in Business Administration, Accounting, Manufacturing Management, and Economics. The Department of Finance and Marketing has some 450 undergraduate majors and 12 faculty members.
