  • Salary range: Level B AUD$69,861 – AUD$82,961 p.a.

Applications are sought from individuals who are developing researchers and research supervisors, who are enthusiastic teachers and who will be collegial staff members in the discipline. The Marketing discipline is particularly interested in individuals with a strong background and experience in teaching marketing strategy, marketing research and international and cross cultural marketing. Applicants must have a PhD or substantial progress on their research project, in marketing or a closely related discipline and be strongly committed to research. The quality of the successful applicant’s research potential and capacity to supervise research students are important factors. Applicants must be prepared to teach overseas as necessary.

The School has the largest enrolment of all schools in the University and offers undergraduate courses across a wide range of business related disciplines. The UWA marketing discipline was recently rated among the top five in Australasia and top two in Australia in research productivity (Marketing Educator 2003, 2005). The discipline offers four coursework masters degrees, a masters by research and a PhD program and graduates the highest number of postgraduate students in the Business School after the MBA. SELECTION CRITERIA

A Lecturer is responsible to the Head of School and is expected to conduct research and teaching activities and undertake School administrative duties. Appointment at this level requires evidence of achievement in a relevant area of research and an ability and willingness to accept teaching responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Qualifications:

  1. PhD, or substantial progress on their research project, in Marketing or a closely related discipline.

Research and Scholarship: Applicants should:

  1. Possess a record of research and show a commitment to excellence in research;
  2. Demonstrate a sound understanding of Marketing;
  3. Demonstrate strong theoretical and analytical skills in their area of expertise;
  4. Demonstrate a clear research agenda;
  5. Possess excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collegially and in collaboration with others.

Teaching and Learning: Applicants should:

  1. Be able to show evidence of excellent teaching skills in undergraduate and postgraduate units
  2. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the development of, and willingness to teach, undergraduate and postgraduate units and courses in marketing strategy, marketing research and international and cross cultural marketing;
  3. Demonstrate a willingness to teach in an offshore program;
  4. Demonstrate a capacity to supervise Honours and postgraduate research students;
  5. Be willing to encourage the intellectual and career development of both male and female students.

Other: Applicants should:

  1. Provide evidence of involvement in academic committees and working groups;
  2. Have an ability to obtain funding for research projects;
  3. Show evidence of research links with industry and/or government.
