As of today, ELMAR subscribers can post in two different ways:

  1. The traditional way, by sending email to elmar@ama.org, or by
  2. self-posting using the ELMAR Web site you are using to read this message.

The second option is new and offers additional user control over formatting. In some cases, it may also allow for faster posting.

Self-posting is accomplished from the ELMAR "Archive", from any folder under Archive, or from any individual posting in any folder. All postings (including this one) are stored under Archive, which appears on the left hand nav bar.

Near the top of the screen, on the grey horizontal nav bar, the words "Add" or "Add New" now appear for any logged in subscriber. Clicking on these words will take you to the Add screen allowing you to add a posting (also called an article). You can give it a Headline, include your name as Author, place the posting in the correct Subject folder, and write the Introduction paragraph. The Headline and Introduction paragraph are seen by subscribers in the email Community Updates, and these may sometimes be modified by the moderator.

Lower on the screen you will see a sort of word processor, called the , that allows you to paste or type in your announcement. The visual editor has numerous buttons for adding links, effecting format modifications, pasting from Word, and for many other functions. The visual editor also gives you the option to add or change the HTML source code if that sort of thing is fun to you.

Of course all postings, either emailed or self-posted, are still subject to moderator review. As mentioned above, the moderator and the ELMAR board reserve the right to modify the posting Headline and Introduction paragraph; to time the release of the posting to subscribers; and to change the posting category (folder).

All categories of announcement are now open to subscriber posting with the exception of and
