I would like to know if we in marketing have established rules/norms for replication of studies. Is there any literature on this topic? Do ELMAR subscribers have an opinion on this topic? Here are some specific questions:
- If we only have to cite the reference, then what’s the difference between simply quoting in brief and replicating in detail?
- Do we use the exact same variables and methodology or can we include additional variables. Or even cut down a few?
- If the variables and the methodology are the same, can we change a technique used to arrive at the solution?
- Are there similar norms for replicating a portion of a study and the complete study?
- Does that also mean that the same study can be done in 100 different countries and still have the power to get published over and over again?
