Towson University’s Department of Marketing and e-Business invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Marketing and e-Business for Fall 2007, pending budget approval.
Of particular interest are individuals with competency in marketing research and quantitative analysis and a desire to conduct courses in those areas. Complementary interest in strategic marketing, personal selling/sales management, international marketing and/or e-Business/e-Marketing is a plus.
A Ph.D./DBA or equivalent in marketing from an AACSB accredited university is required. (ABD’s with significant progress will be considered if completion of the degree is achieved by February 1, 2008.) Applicants must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, show scholarly research potential, and have a willingness to pursue external funding opportunities. The position requires a teaching load of nine credit hours per semester for the first three years. The salary is competitive. Towson University’s College of Business and Economics is accredited by AACSB for both its business and accounting programs. It conducts undergraduate business programs with majors/concentrations in an array of business fields and also jointly offers a MBA program with the University of Baltimore. The college has the distinction of offering the only undergraduate e-Business program in the University System of Maryland and plays a prominent role in providing leadership to local/regional firms, governments and non-profit organizations in the integration of e-Business in their strategic planning and implementation. The college also has affiliated foreign business programs in several countries.

Requirements
A PhD in Marketing, China Business, International Business or related areas. For the post of Professor/Associate Professor, a substantial track record of research and publications in top journals, an active research programme, and high quality teaching are expected. A good benchmark for the rank is for tenured Professor/Associate Professor at a strong American research oriented university. For the post of Assistant Professor, good teaching evaluation results, an active research programme with publications or potential publications in respectable and top marketing/international business journals are expected.
Salary and Conditions of Service

We seek candidates with expertise in creating commercial opportunities in virtual environments. The focus is on electronic retailing with B2B and B2C applications. Retail Supply Chain Management
We seek candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: buyer/supplier relationships, product strategy and/or sales and distribution management, global supply chain management, or channel integration. The research program will depend on expertise and interests of the successful candidate and may include: behavioral dimensions of dyadic relations, economic aspects of transactions, cross cultural negotiations, sourcing/procurement, trade promotions, power asymmetry. Commerce Planning
We seek candidates with a strong interest and experience in international aspects of the discipline who can develop an innovative research and teaching program in the integrated area of advertising, public relations, and retailing. The focus of this position is to explore the area of international commerce planning from the perspectives of the cultural, social, economic, technological, and governmental forces that a business must monitor and deal with to succeed in the global economy. The research program will depend on the expertise and interests of the successful candidate and may include: global advertising; macro retail development; business to business, business to community or business to consumer communication; consumer segmenting; market strategy; account planning; retail advertising; or commerce policy concerns. The position is meant to serve as a link among the three areas in the department (advertising, public relations, and retailing). Therefore, research efforts that overlap any of the three areas will be preferable. The successful candidate must be committed to both a global focus and extensive grant activity. Revenue generation is an expectation for success in reaching tenure.
