2) Tiffin University

Located in Northwest Ohio, Tiffin University is responding to the growth of its undergraduate business programs, its seated and on-line MBA programs as well as program opportunities overseas. The School of Business, accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, has an opening at the Assistant Professor rank in Marketing. The position is open for Fall 2007 appointments and faculty will have the opportunity to teach traditional as well as online courses in the BBA and the MBA programs. Opportunities to teach in overseas programs may also be available.

Successful candidates will have professional experience as well as doctoral degrees in their respective fields. Candidates in final stages of their dissertation may be considered for the position. Doctoral qualifications in the following specializations and teaching interests are especially desirable: Consumer Behavior and Marketing Communications. Applicants should send a letter of application indicating teaching interests, curriculum vitae and names and contact information of three references to: John J. Millar, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs, Tiffin University, 155 Miami Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883. Applications may also be sent by e-mail to fisherJM@tiffin.edu. Applicant review will begin December 15. Tiffin University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

From the Dean:

That was the formal job statement from the university.  I would like to add a few words of my own.  What makes the position really sweet and different from many small, private colleges:

  1. All our faculty have the opportunity to teach during the Fall and Spring regular semesters in our overseas operations.  Right now that means Romania and Moldova, with other places in Eastern Europe in the works, especially Russia.  These courses count against your regular teaching load and require you to be in-country on our dime for three weeks.
  2. Almost no one on our faculty (except by choice) teaches a 12 credit hour load.  We have a four section requirement, but the graduate sections are only two credit hours.  Since we have very extensive graduate offerings, almost everyone teaches two graduate courses, sometimes three.
  3. Want to teach online?  Every single one of our faculty have taught graduate courses online.  Most do it every semester, if they want to.

I welcome you to apply to the VPAA’s Office as described above.  If you have any further questions about the position, please feel free to give me a call/email/IM, etc.
