- Service Productivity
- Service Operations
- Service Human Resources

The conference will highlight the latest thinking in service, particularly those that combine aspects of technology, social science, and business. Preference for academic abstracts will be given to more rigorous analytical, empirical and behavioral approaches. Reviews of major research areas are especially encouraged. Case studies by practitioners are also encouraged.
Conference attendees will consist of both academicians and practitioners, and we ask that the 25-minute presentations be understandable to both groups. Because there will be no published proceedings, we encourage authors to submit their best work, providing it will not have been published by the date of the conference.
Abstracts may be submitted online at and are due by March 1, 2007. The conference committee will select abstracts on a competitive basis, and authors will be notified by May 1, 2007.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
The 2007 conference and all sessions will be held at the Westin St. Francis Hotel located on Union Square in the heart of San Francisco. The conference will open with a reception Thursday evening (4 October) at the Westin on the 32nd floor, known as the Imperial Floor, in the gorgeously appointed Victor’s and Alexandra’s rooms. The city view from the top floor is unparalleled. The annual awards dinner is planned to take place in Westin’s Grand Ballroom and on Saturday we’ll be heading out for a harbor fireworks cruise on the bay for dinner.
The Westin (home of Heavenly Beds™) is offering special tiered conference rates to our attendees, and there is a wide variety of hotels to choose from in downtown San Francisco. The near-by (walking distance) Hotel Griffon (historic boutique hotel) is also offering our attendees a special rate.
Transportation is easy and inexpensive around the city. The rapid transit system between Union Square and the airport zips you along in safety. Cable cars have regular routes around town and the taxi drivers are friendly and knowledgeable.
This week, Fleet Week brings its own set of unique activities (parade of ships, Blue Angels aerial demonstrations and more). San Francisco itself offers a multitude of cultural, historical, shopping and just plain fun opportunities.
Autumn in San Francisco is truly the best time of year for weather. Days are warm and sunny (60-70’s F), and nights are mild and clear (50’s F). Dress in layers. Rainfall is rare, the fog has cleared and the long warming process has reached its magnificent zenith, making September, October and early November the three best months to visit San Francisco.
