Access to TOC Articles

Introduction

Starting with today's TOC Digest, a link appears after each article that may provide access to that article depending on whether you or your institution has a subscription

The tables of contents in today’s digest contain an additional link labeled "Publisher". Clicking on this link will take you to the listed article under the following conditions:

  • The article is open access
  • You have a subscription to the journal
  • Your university has a subscription and you are using your university’s network either
    • directly from a university computer, or
    • indirectly through some type of IP address proxy service

I am thinking that the "Google Scholar" and "Publisher" links will complement each other, providing alternative methods to reach the article or related content. In my own situation, the "Publisher" link is more convenient to me when I am on campus while the "Google Scholar" link tends to be more useful off campus.

Feel free to let me know how this new "Publisher" link works – or doesn’t work as the case may be – for you. University processes and Internet access are pretty heterogeneous, so I would be happy to learn about your experience.

A Note on Using Google Scholar

You can specify your institutional affiliation to Google Scholar by clicking on the link "Scholar Preferences" that appears next to the Search button at . Then look for the "Find Library" button on the preferences page. You can personalize further by specifying your bibliography management software.
