CALL FOR PAPERS

The business community has become more concerned with ethics and ethical behavior in the recent past, resulting in the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation in the United States and increasing numbers of companies developing and adopting Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice.  Also, business is increasingly becoming international, multinational, and global partially due to the increasing ease of communication and information flows.  Higher education institutions are increasingly ensuring that ethics are included in their business degree programs.  The speed of technological development and business outpaces the encoding of ethics into law, leaving business and educational institutions that train people engaged in business responsible for behaviors and actions that are ahead of the law.

The Journal of Electronic Commerce and Organizations is publishing a special edition that concentrates on the evolution of international ethics used in e-commerce and e-education.  We invite papers on the following and related topics:

  • The history of ethics in e-Commerce and/or e-Education
  • The relevance of broadly accepted ethics standards from various domains including traditional business ethics to e-Commerce and/or e-Education
  • The impact of the increasing ease of cross jurisdictional information transfer on ethics in e-Commerce and/or e-Education
  • Explanation or interpretation of e-Ethics
  • Can a global e-Ethics standard be defined?
  • The cultural and ethnic sensitivity of e-Ethics – reality or myth
  • Specific ethical challenges in e-services, e.g.  e-Banking, e-Business, and e-Marketing
