Position description: The School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University is seeking applications for one tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the area of strategic management. We do not require previous research or business experience in hotel management or hospitality.
We seek candidates with doctorates in strategy, management, marketing, or economics with top-tier academic ambitions whose research interests can be easily applied to the lodging industry; thus, research in areas such as multi-unit organization, franchising, branding strategy, services entrepreneurship or standardization/adaptation of business concepts would be particularly appropriate. Candidates should be interested in developing their research ideas for both “A” academic journals and for the hospitality practitioner audience. The Hotel School provides unique data sets and industry connections that can facilitate the candidate’s future research about the industry. Teaching is also highly valued at the Hotel School: the successful candidate would teach the capstone course in strategic management, and would have the opportunity to develop electives based on their research interests.
Rank and salary: The tenure-track professorial position is a three-year, renewable appointment to begin in Fall 2007. The College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University is accepting applications for a tenure-track ASSISTANT or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR position in the area of MARKETING to commence August 2007. Principle responsibilities include teaching courses in sales at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a newly developed Sales Institute. Normal teaching load will be three courses per semester at the graduate or undergraduate level.
Required: A doctorate from an AACSB accredited business school with a major or concentration in Marketing or a related field, or ABD and in the final stages of dissertation completion; evidence of teaching excellence in marketing or sales courses at the college/university level; a strong research agenda and interest in teaching and doing research in sales.
Preferred: Teaching philosophy consistent with the college’s learning-centered and business-connected mission; teaching experience at the college/university level in sales; demonstrated scholarly activity commensurate with experience; industry experience in sales; competency in SAP and/or Six Sigma or a willingness to undertake professional development in one or both of these areas and familiarity with professional sales force training techniques.
