Assistant Professor of Marketing

The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith (UAFS) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Marketing to begin August 2007.

Primary responsibilities include support of the College of Business and the proposed Marketing Major via program and curriculum development, undergraduate teaching in marketing, and engagement in applied research. All areas of specialization will be considered. However, demonstrated ability and willingness to champion the marketing research course is desired. Other responsibilities may include assessment/evaluation of instruction, student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities, professional development, and participation in committee activities. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in Marketing (ABD considered). Teaching and/or business experience preferred. Desired qualifications include knowledge of and/or experience in marketing research, business-to-business marketing, and services marketing; a commitment to excellence in teaching; well-developed teamwork and communication skills; and experience in the development of instructional materials, including alternative delivery methods. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Fort Smith is the second largest city in the state of Arkansas–with a population of approximately 80,000–and is home to corporations such as the Baldor Electric Company and ABF Freight Systems, Inc. Other major employers include Whirlpool, Gerber Products, MacSteel, Beverly Enterprises, Rheem Manufacturing, and Trane. The city boasts a high quality of life and a relatively low cost of living. Fort Smith’s convenient regional airport connects the city directly to Dallas and Memphis (with multiple flights daily).
