Jon M. Hawes wins 2006 Prentice-Hall "Solomon-Marshall-Stuart" Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education.

The ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Teaching and Learning SIG announces that Jon M. Hawes is the winner of the 2006 Prentice Hall Solomon-Marshall-Stuart Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education.  Dr. Hawes is Professor of Marketing and Director of the Fisher Institute for Professional Selling at the University of Akron. 

The Teaching and Learning Special Interest Group conducts this competition to recognize and reward innovative excellence in marketing education, and to provide a forum for outstanding teachers to share their expertise with their colleagues.  Past winners of the this award are:

  • Gary Geissler, University of Arkansas
  • Jerome Katrichis, University of Hartford
  • Robert Peterson, University of Portland
  • Dhruv Grewal, Babson College
  • David Urban, Virginia Commonwealth University
  • John Drea, Western Illinois University
  • Gopala Ganesh, University of North Texas. 

Professor Hawes will accept his award and make a presentation on his teaching philosophy and methods at the Teaching and Learning SIG session business meeting (Session 4.5A) and reception at 5:00pm, Saturday, August 5 at the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Summer Educators’ Conference. 

The ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Teaching and Learning SIG congratulates Jon M. Hawes for winning this award.  We also wish to thank Prentice Hall for their award sponsorship and the following individuals who donated considerable time in judging the entries for this award.
