7) HEC Paris

Position announcement HEC Paris

This is to announce that the marketing department of HEC Paris has two openings for Assistant or Associate Professor positions (tenure-track). We will be interviewing at the upcoming ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Educators’ Conference in Chicago.

HEC Paris () is one of the leading business schools in Europe.  The Marketing Department currently comprises 14 colleagues, some with North American Ph.D.’s (from Northwestern, Cornell, MIT, McGill, UCLA, NYU, etc.), some with European degrees (INSEAD, Leuven, Erasmus, Wageningen, etc.).

The faculty of the marketing department has varied research interests.  Over the last years, we have published papers in Journal of Marketing, Marketing Science, Management Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Strategic Management Journal, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Marketing Letters, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, etc.

We offer degrees at all levels: an MBA program ranked 11th worldwide by the Wall Street Journal (82% of foreign students, 55 nationalities represented), an Executive MBA and the TRIUM Global Executive MBA (joint degree with NYU-Stern and London School of Economics), a Ph.D. program, the leading  French "Grande Ecole" in business administration, which was recently ranked first among European Masters of Science in Management by the Financial Times, and several Specialized Masters programs, including one in Marketing.  As a growing percentage of our courses are offered in English, especially in the MBA and Ph.D. programs, our new colleagues can teach in English.

We are primarily interested in young colleagues who will have completed the Ph.D. by Fall 2007 or earlier.  However, we will also consider with great attention candidates who have already been in Academia for a few years.  Obviously, given our location in the Paris area, we are looking for young colleagues seriously interested in a career in Europe.

While we remain open in terms of research topics, we preferably would like to hire either in B2B or in quantitative modelling. Most importantly however, candidates should evidence ability to do research and publish in leading international journals.

Junior faculty at HEC receive several advantages, such as a reduced teaching load and a priority for research budgets, in order to encourage their research activity.  In addition, the HEC Foundation, a group of sponsoring companies, finances research projects on a continuous basis.  Our excellent contacts with and geographical proximity to the business world of Paris also have proven to be an excellent source of research ideas and data.

For more information, please feel free to contact Professor Gilles Laurent (laurent@hec.fr), who is leading the recruitment efforts.
