Marketing: Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

We invite applications for up to three tenure-track positions in Marketing at all levels, commencing August 1, 2007, subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidates must have a PhD in Marketing or a closely related business field. Candidates who will complete their PhD by September 2007 may also apply. The ability to teach in one or more of the following areas is required: Introductory Marketing; Business-to-Business Marketing; Marketing Communications; and Sales Management. The successful candidates will incorporate a global focus in both their teaching and research. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an ongoing interest in academic or business research with a record of conference presentations and/or journal publications. Prior work experience in business or the industry is highly valued. Successful candidates are expected to provide high-quality, technologically enabled instruction in our new, state-of-the-art building, and pursue an active research program, including applying for external funding.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Marketing

The University of Tennessee, College of Business Administration invites applications and nominations for a tenure track, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position in its Department of Marketing and Logistics.  This person will be expected to have expertise in marketing and related cross functional areas (e.g., logistics, supply chain management, international business, etc.) and to work effectively in a Department that places significant emphasis on cross functional interaction and integration.  Effective date of employment will be August 1, 2007, or when filled.

Qualifications

Required:  Ph.D. degree in marketing or related field in hand as of starting date of employment.  The candidate must have teaching and research interests that include International Marketing Strategy.

Preferred:  The ideal candidate will have full-time work experience, the ability to work effectively as a contributing member of a faculty team, a scholarly research record as evidenced by publications (or progress toward publications) in top-tier journals in the marketing field, an appreciation of the role of marketing in other business functions, an interest in teaching in interdisciplinary degree programs, a strong proficiency in quantitative methods, and the ability to teach in traditional degree programs (undergraduate and MBA programs), with an interest in eventually teaching in Ph.D. and/or non-degree executive development programs.

The Department of Marketing and Logistics is positioned within the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee.  The Department has a single vision that integrates the mission and objectives of its programs in Marketing and Logistics within the College-wide context of Integrated Value Chain Management.  The Department enjoys a strong and meaningful positioning within the College, and faculty members are active participants in College-wide programs and priorities.  The University of Tennessee’s programs in both Marketing and Logistics have been ranked highly in national surveys.

The Whittemore School of Business and Economics invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Marketing beginning Fall Semester 2007, or earlier.  An ideal candidate must be able to teach quantitative marketing courses, including marketing research and market opportunity analysis, using sophisticated primary and secondary data analysis techniques and have experience and/or knowledge of applying quantitative techniques in situations involving large scale data sets and bases. Consideration will be given to candidates of all ranks, but more senior candidates must have a clearly defined research agenda and evidence of scholarly productivity in top journals.

Eligible candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Marketing or a related field.  If the terminal degree is not in marketing, then the candidate must have an MBA from an AACSB accredited school.  Preferred candidates will evidence strong research potential leading to sustained publications in top marketing journals and potential for high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and MBA levels.
