Call for Applications
 
April 14, 2006 is the deadline for applications to the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø (ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø) Services Marketing Special Interest Group (SERVSIG) for the Liam Glynn/Center for Services Leadership Research Award. This award gives emerging services scholars the opportunity to attend the Services Doctoral Consortium (June 28-29, 2006) and the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Frontiers in Services Conference (June 29-July 2, 2006) at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Liam Glynn was a Lecturer at the University College Dublin in the Smurfit Graduate School of Business. The first Director of the UCD Centre for Quality and Services Management, Liam published services marketing articles in France, Ireland, Italy, United Kingdom, and the United States. Co-editor of Understanding Services Management in 1995, he was the Membership Coordinator for the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø SERVSIG and co-chaired the first ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø SERVSIG Conference on services research in 1999.
 
The ASU Center for Services Leadership is a research center within the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Founded in 1985 to pioneer the study of services, the Center for Services Leadership has established itself as a globally recognized authority on how to compete strategically through the profitable use of services. The Center for Services Leadership is the sponsor of this year’s Services Doctoral Consortium.
 
Up to four applicants will be awarded a travel grant of up to $1,500 each to reimburse travel expenses to Australia. Current Ph.D. seeking students and recent graduates are eligible to apply. All submissions should be submitted to Ray Fisk at rfisk@uno.edu by April 14, 2006 and should include the following information: 

  1. Curriculum vita
  2. Statement as to why attending the Services Doctoral Consortium and the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Frontiers in Services Conference would be beneficial to the applicant at this stage in his/her career
  3. Statement confirming that applicant has strong interest in the field of services marketing with supporting information (e.g. area of research 

A committee comprised of ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø SERVSIG members will select the award recipients. Applicants are selected based on their responses to a series of questions, including why they wish to attend and how it would be beneficial to them at this stage in their career.
