Hints on Using the New ELMAR

Introduction

How to change your password, email address, update frequency, and info on searching for previous postings

A Quick User Guide to the ELMAR CommunityZero Platform

The site has two parts to it. The community itself can be found at

.

You are probably reading this tip now from that URL. On the left you will see a navigation bar that shows you most of what can be done on the site at this time.

The preferences link on the nav bar can be used to modify different aspects of your subscription, the most important being the frequency with which you receive updates.

You can also choose to show or hide different aspects of your profile. This is not so important now because user profiles are not visible on the community at all, but that option may be turned on later.

When you are finished modifying your preferences, make sure that "Custom Profile" is unchecked as sometimes the software seems to check this by mistake.

The second part of the site is refered to as the "Main" page. This address for Main is

.

Main allows you to change your password and to modify your profile. Many aspects of your profile are changeable, including your user name, email address, office address, and so on. Most of this information is ignored at this time, but it may be used later.

As ELMAR posting are made, they are put in a subject folder on the ELMAR community tool labeled "Archive 2006". This can be seen from the nav bar from the community. The most recent postings also appear on the What’s New tool which is the page you see when you first log in to the community.

Older postings, from 2004 and 2005 can be seen on the "Archive Pre-2006" nav bar link. These consist of individual emails.

The search function (near the top of the nav bar) will not search internal contents of Pre-2006 archive items, only the subject of the original ELMAR emails. The one exception is the Positions Digests for 2005, which have been added under a special folder under the Archive 2006 tool so that individual school names will be searchable for 2005. If you have a need to search the ELMAR archives for a pre-2004 item, please just send email to the Moderator at ELMAR-Request@ama.org.
