Editing is a profession, just as academia is. In this country at least the minimum entry standard is a postgraduate qualification. Just as using unqualified amateurs in the business of teaching or researching marketing is fraught with potential disaster, so is using unqualified amateur editors. As a former professional editor myself, but inactive
for some years, I strongly recommend from experience that only professionally qualified and accredited editors be considered. A listing of such editors in Victoria, Australia, can be found at
