Bitner, Mahajan, and Srivastava Named Newest 蹤獲扦夥厙 Fellows

The 蹤獲扦夥厙 is pleased to announce the selection of three distinguished scholars to be inducted as 蹤獲扦夥厙 Fellows at the 蹤獲扦夥厙 in San Diego, California on February 14, 2020, at a special reception.

In addition to celebrating the new fellows, the reception is an opportunity to bring numerous generations of 蹤獲扦夥厙-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium participants together and celebrate the 蹤獲扦夥厙-Irwin-McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Gerard Tellis of the University of Southern California.

The 2020 蹤獲扦夥厙 Fellow Inductees are:

Mary Jo Bitner, Arizona State University
PhD from University of Washington
Mary Jo Bitner is one of the founders of the service marketing discipline, committing her career to the study of customer-employee interactions, technology delivered service, service infusion and customer satisfaction. She has published more than 50 journal articles in top academic and managerial journals and is co-author of a leading textbook in services marketing, now in its 7th edition. She served as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Service Research and was the executive director of the W. P. Carey School’s Center for Services Leadership, a globally recognized authority on how to compete strategically and innovate through services. Among many honors, Professor Bitner has received the Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions to the Services Discipline Award from the 蹤獲扦夥厙’s SERVSIG, an honorary doctorate from the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, an IBM Faculty Award, the MMA Marketing Innovator Award and ISSIP’s inaugural Fellow Award for Lifetime Achievement in Service Science.

Vijay Mahajan, University of Texas – Austin

Vijay Mahajan is a marketing strategy thought leader whose research has focused on strategy, product diffusion, and research methods. He has published in the disciplines leading journals. He served as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Marketing Research and the dean of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. Among many honors, Professor Mahajan has received the 蹤獲扦夥厙 Charles Coolidge Parlin Award, 蹤獲扦夥厙 Marketing Research SIG Churchill Award, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur) and 蹤獲扦夥厙 Berry Book Award. Mahajans work has extended beyond academe as he has consulted with numerous Fortune 500 companies. The 蹤獲扦夥厙 Foundation and Marketing Strategy SIG instituted the Vijay Mahajan Award in 2000 for career contributions to marketing strategy.

Rajendra Srivastava, Indian School of Business
PhD from University of Pittsburgh
Rajendra Srivastava is a transformational academic leader who has published extensively on marketing strategy, marketing metrics, brand/customer management, strategic performance management, and marketing accountability. He currently serves as Dean of the Indian School of Business. His scholarship has been recognized with numerous honors, including receiving each of the Journal of Marketings awards. Prior to joining the ISB, he served as Provost and Deputy President of Academic Affairs at Singapore Management University and leadership roles at Emory University and University of Texas. In addition to delivering executive education programs, he has applied his research as a consultant for numerous global corporations.

The distinction of 蹤獲扦夥厙 Fellow is given to members in good standing of the 蹤獲扦夥厙 who have made significant contributions to the research, theory and practice of marketing, and/or to the service and activities of the 蹤獲扦夥厙 over a prolonged period of time. The 蹤獲扦夥厙 Fellow designation is intended to recognize marketing academics achievement, but it is also designed to create a space or fellowship, discussion, collaboration and continued contributions to the discipline.  

Each year a new cohort is nominated from the academic community, selected by a group of distinguished peers and honored at Winter 蹤獲扦夥厙. Since the programs inaugural year, over 40 scholars have been inducted as 蹤獲扦夥厙 Fellows. Nominations for new fellows are accepted on an annual basis. The Winter Academic Conference annual creates space to honor special achievements in the discipline. This year that includes the 蹤獲扦夥厙 Fellows, 蹤獲扦夥厙-Irwin-McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educators, William L. Wilkie Marketing for a Better World Award, Erin Anderson Award for an Emerging Female Marketing Scholar and Mentor, and John A. Howard/ 蹤獲扦夥厙 Doctoral Dissertation Award.
