Jagdish Sheth Wins Award for Research, Mentoring and Philanthropy

The legendary marketing professor has published more than 350 papers and books, including 1969鈥檚 The Theory of Buyer Behavior, which has been cited more than 7,200 times

Jagdish Sheth鈥攁 long-time friend of the 萝莉社官网 and the Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing at the Goizueta Business School of Emory University鈥攈as won the 2019 Thomas Jefferson Award from Emory. This award honors research, mentoring and philanthropy, .

鈥淭his award is really special because it is selected by a committee of university-wide peers,鈥 says Sheth, according to Emory Report. 鈥淎lso, it is special because the Jefferson Award reinforces the mission of an academic, which is to unlock the potential of others.鈥

Sheth has been an author on more than 350 research papers and books, including cited more than 7,200 times, and 1991鈥檚 cited more than 3,400 times.

鈥淭he committee was deeply impressed by the local, regional and international contributions Professor Sheth has made through his distinguished career at Emory,鈥 says Carol Rowland Hogue, Jules & Uldeen Terry Professor of Maternal and Child Health, professor of epidemiology and director of the Women’s and Children’s Center at Emory.

Holli Semetko, the Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Media and International Affairs at Emory, called Sheth a visionary leader and beloved mentor, colleague and teacher.

鈥淗e and his wife, Madhu Sheth, and the Sheth Family Foundation, have been most generous in so many ways and we have become a better institution and better informed as individuals as a result,鈥 Semetko says.

Benn Konsynski, the George S. Craft Professor in Information Systems and Operations Management at Goizueta of Emory, says that Sheth is 鈥渢he full package.鈥

鈥淸T]op scholar, highly respected in global public and private sectors, leader in pedagogy and education institution governance, generous with his advice and mentorship, highly respected by world leaders, and a strong servant to Emory University and each institution he has engaged,鈥 Konsynski says.

Sheth is the namesake of the 萝莉社官网-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium, the premier consortium in marketing, which brings together the best students from the world. The consortium was given Sheth鈥檚 name in 1997 in recognition of the Madhuri & Jagdish N. Sheth Foundation鈥檚 commitment to finance part of the consortium on an ongoing basis by establishing an 萝莉社官网 Foundation endowed fund.鈥嬧
